Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Posted on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
